Casa Lapostolle.
Award-Winning Summer Drinking with Raeburn Fine Wines & Casa Lapostolle.
Casa Lapostolle was founded by the Marnier Lapostolle family from France & the Rabat family from Chile in 1994, through Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle, her husband Cyril de Bournet and Don Jose Rabat Gorchs. Today Casa Lapostolle is 100% owned by the Marnier-Lapostolle group.
The Marnier-Lapostolle family, founders and owners of the world renowned liqueur Grand Marnier are known for producing spirits, but the family has also been involved in winemaking for generations. Originally winegrowers in the Loire Valley, the Marnier Lapostolle continue this vintner tradition today as owners of Chateau Sancerre.
The Chilean climate is perfect for vine-growing. The vines have never been grafted. It was a relevation to discover that a good number of very old vines were still growing in the vinyards. These original cuttings were brought over from France in the last century and arrived in Chile before the dreaded phylloxera louse attacked the parent stock in Europe. As a result the old vines in Chile are healthy and descended from great French ancestors.
Today Casa Lapostolle owns 300 hectares in 3 different vinyards and produces a total of 150,000 cases spread over Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenere and Syrah.
