Mee Godard

Beaujolais, Burgundy

The Story

A winemaker of Japanese and Korean descent, Mee set up shop in Beaujolais in 2012
after years of working in a variety of wineries from small-scale and more artisanal to
large co-ops through Burgundy, Champagne and Oregon. She speaks to this broad
spectrum of experience as ultimately helping her to fulfil her dream of making
ageworthy wines from Gamay, a grape she loves. Mee believed the underappreciated
terroir of Beaujolais would make the perfect location for her endeavours.
In the vineyard and the cellar
Today she works with old vine plots; 5ha in Morgon and a small parcel in Moulin a Vent.
In the vineyard farming is organic and vines retain the traditional bushvine training.
Moulin a Vent au Michelon is a south facing site on decomposed pink granite and sandy
soil structures. Vines are over 80 years old and yields are correspondingly low but
concentrated and pristine.
